Can you hear you?

Noise, constant noise. Sounds, traffic, opinions…and the result? A congested brain and a confused (if not lost) self…

How often do we take time to be still and listen to ourselves? And even if we do, can we actually recognize our own voice amongst all others? How does our own inner voice even sound like? Does it has specific characteristics?

Thankfully it does!

Our own inner voice is always calm and peaceful. It conveys no urgency, makes no demands. It is simply there calling you steadily and consistently. It’s calling you towards your expansion, your growth. This calling feels more like a deep knowing that the mind cannot deny or explain. An inner pull, natural as gravity.

You may think your inner voice like a child. This (and every) child wants to play, learn and experience, without fear and without hesitations or complex thinking.

Sometimes it calls us towards the next experience that will spark ourselves with joy and excitement. Other times it will pull us towards distraction in order to set ourselves free from states or situations that don’t serve our expansion anymore, -If I cannot grow and expand as I desire within a certain environment, then I am probably in the wrong environment and it’s my responsibility to listen to myself and take action to change what doesn’t work for me anymore-.

Resisting it is possible - we all have free will- but it requires massive amounts of energy and it will not serve you in the long run. Afterall, we are here to live and experience life, not to avoid it.

Adulthood within our current societal construct is burdened with a lot of limitations and core beliefs that prohibit our expansion and growth. Decisions made at a certain point in our life seem impossible to reject or change later on simply because of our current mental and social narratives. We hold ourselves in a mental captivity without even realizing it.

In reality, however there is no objective right or wrong. There are only different perspectives and individual life experiences. As social animals we also have a strong need for connection with others. This is healthy and desirable until the point it causes us to silence our inner voice. But even if/when we realize that I’ve been silenced then there is always a way out.

How?

By examining our mental stories and belief systems, setting boundaries, and taking the actions that are in alignment with our inner voice. It’s simple but not easy…So far most of us choose to resist this voice and stay imprisoned by our mental narratives instead. However, slowly and steadily things are shifting in our society towards a new paradigm.

My wish for all of us is that we’ll become part of the new ‘normal’. That we’ll take on the responsibility of following our inner compass so that we’ll become a society of free and joyful spirits who will be able to create deep and meaningful connections.

Although we all have a unique story, we’re also similar in many ways.
